Alfred Dunhill White Spot | Shell Briar Pipe | 3121
Alfred Dunhill was the first pipe maker to introduce the technique of Sandblasting to the world of pipes in 1917. This amazing new finish was launched and took its name from how the sandblasting removed softer parts of the briar to revealed the beautiful shell-like patterns within the grain, the Shell White Spot Briar Pipe by Alfred Dunhill was born.
The "Ring Grain" pipes were first produced in 1996 by blasting a straight grain bowl proved to reveals circles neatly stacked around the bowl, a very distinct look and quite rare to find.
Contrary to belief the briar chosen to produce Dunhill sandblast pipes is of the highest quality and not selected for its imperfections. The briar is in fact very carefully selected as a softer wood is better suited to obtain the craggy surface and is prepared by being oil treated to strengthen and enhance the grain of a Shell pipe.
We carefully select all of our Alfred Dunhill briar pipes for their distinct personality. We individually photograph each white spot pipe, rest assured that the pipe you see is the photo is the pipe you will hold.
