Alfred Dunhill White Spot Briar Smoking Pipe - Tanshell Briar Pipe Alphorn Limited Edition

The Alphorn (German: Alpenhorn) is literally translated as "Horn of the Alps"

These traditional long horns ere played by Alpine herdsmen and villagers, originallu sounded for intercommunication and at daily ceremonies and seasonal festivals. Today, these imposing horns are mostly played as musical instruments.

The Alphorn is carved or bored from wood and overwound in birch bark. Most instruments are straight, reaching ip to 12 feet (4 metres) in length; since the mid 19th century, especially in Switzerland, the bell may be upcurved.

This White Spot Pipe has been inspired by the shape of the traditional Alphorns of the European Alps.

Your Alphorn pipe has been individually hand-turned, is stamped as a Collector XL in Tanshell finish and measures approximately 34 cm (13,5 inches) in length.

Fitted in a ventilated Ventage pipe case (which was invented by Alfred Dunhill in 1919 and patented in 1920), the certificate confirms this pipe to be one of a limited, assorted production run of onl 34 units world-wide.
