Gawith Hoggarth's American 'V' Blend (Vanilla) is an alluring blend of Black Cavendish and Virginia with vanilla flavouring. It gives a rich creamy vanilla taste to begin, then through the bowl further flavours emerge. You may detect some cherry notes and bourbon whiskey, along with caramel and dark fruits. For such a simple blend there's a multitude of flavours to pick out, though you may just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. An impressive, quality vanilla tobacco.
The aroma coming from the mixture is definitely vanilla with hints of fruit, nectar and butterscotch. It's a coarse cut sea of black with golden brown waves breaking the surface. Easy to pack into the bowl, it catches the flame well and needs little effort to keep it burning. You are left with grey ash after it has burnt and no sticky dottle.
