Product Description
In the First World War, a soldier couldn't get his favourite pipe repaired easily, so if he broke his peg, he took an old bullet casing and hammered it onto the shank. The stem with the broken peg could then be shoved into the other end, not pretty but he got his smoke.
And so the Army mount was born, quick and easy to maintain it's practical, and nowadays, Peterson have refined it with the use of sterling silver for their higher grade pipes.
This 129 is a bent Dublin with a rusticated bowl. This differs from a sandblast finish as the bowl is carved to produce the craggy rugged look, nowadays this rustication is quite deep to emphasise the textured finish.
It's comfortable, tactile to hold and offers a decent smoking period of around 30 minutes. The nickel army mount makes for easy cleaning, even when warm. A vulcanite stem with a fishtail lip completes the picture.
A perfect pipe for anyone wanting something not fussy, it comes boxed with a dust bag.
