Rolled at the AJ Fernandez San Lotano cigar factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua, and distributed by them, the Artesano El Pulpo Robusto Grande is a 5” x 56 ring gauge box-pressed boutique cigar from Billy & Gus Fakih. They joined forces with AJ Fernandez to launch this venture.
In English “El Pulpo” translates from Spanish as Octopus, the idea being that once you experience the blend, just like an octopus, it won’t let go of you. You are trapped.
And it’s fair to say they have a point.
Launched in 2023 it’s a bold dark blend, full bodied and full strength. It uses a San Andrés extra aged Maduro wrapper and AJ Fernandez farms provide the premium aged binder and filler leaf.
The draw is bold and spicy, the flavour profile is complex, with layer after layer of rich notes, pepper, leather and wood feature along with dark chocolate, nuts and coffee.
The blend is aimed at those who like a robust profile, you can expect just over an hour of absolute pleasure from this well thought out cigar.
