De Olifant, one of the oldest European cigar brands, have released a commemorative box of 10 Corona Panatellas to celebrate two centuries of cigar production in the Dutch town of Kampen.
Today it is the last factory still producing traditional style Dutch cigars using Java and Sumatra tobacco from the Dutch colonies.
These short filler cigars don't need constant humidification as the filler leaves are chopped into short pieces and wrapped tightly together by a binder leaf which is typically from Java. This ensures a smooth consistent burn.
The final piece in the jigsaw is the wrapper leaf, and in this sampler box there are 5 Sumatra Corona Panatellas and 5 Brazil Mata Fina Corona Panatellas so you can see and taste the difference between them. Both variations are mild to medium in strength, they offer notes of cedar, toasted wood, gentle spice and natural sweetness.
We don't expect these Limited Edition boxes of 10 cigars to last for long.
