From this boutique brand, that's fast gaining recognition, the Devil Crab is the second cigar in a food-inspired limited edition series.
Named in honour of the popular 1920's croquette shaped crab dish from Ybor City, Tampa, this perfecto shaped beauty is a medium strength flavour explosion.
Brand owner, Rick Rodriguez, has them rolled at the Garmendia cigar factory in Esteli by husband and wife team Jose Palacios and Angelica Garmendia. They met whilst working at the Plasencia factory as a buncher and roller team and now employ 70 people in a fast expanding operation.
The exact blend of this Perfecto shaped cigar is a secret, suffice to say it has a dark oily Oscuro leaf wrapper that cloaks a selection of binder and filler tobaccos that will satisfy both starter and veteran cigar smokers.
It measures 4 1/2" with 60 ring gauge, and it should take you any where up to 80 minutes to fully enjoy one.
Light up and right away the creamy flavour hits you, with pepper, spice and some dark chocolate evident, there's a touch of cedar and some nuttiness. These are good, solid flavours that blend well and add to the overall experience, the strength ramps up as you smoke down, but it doesn't get out of hand.
