Product Description
The story of the Alfred Dunhill Cumberland briar pipe began in a warehouse on Cumberland Road in London 1979 where some Root briar pipes were discovered. Using these old pipes as a foundation for the design, the white spot Cumberland took on a sandblasted briar bowl and shank which was then stained deep brown, just the start of these beautifully crafted pipes.
This was also the time when the famous dunhill 'Cumberland' vulcanite stem was first created and took its name from the road where the pipes influence derived. The combination of the deep brown bowl and Cumberland stem make an almost invisible seam between the two.
When first composed the Cumberland white spot pipe was traditionally designed with a smooth brown rim to contrast its sandblast briar bowl, however, today they occasionally may vary between a smooth and sandblasted rim.
We carefully select all of our Alfred Dunhill briar pipes for their distinct personality. We individually photograph each white spot pipe, rest assured that the pipe you see is the photo is the pipe you will hold.
