Alfred Dunhill White Spot Briar Smoking Pipe - Ruby Bark 4101F

Originally introduced in 1972 as the new Alfred Dunhill Sandblast, the now know Rubybark briar pipe, took on the name Redbark. Following events in the 1960s in Algeria, Italy decided that they would keep all precious wood (including Algerian briar) for national manufacturers only. Dunhill then had to source their briar from elsewhere, mainly Greece, which meant they then had to adapt their technique as the briar dictated, resulting in a change to the finished pipes. Using this newly required briar, Dunhill produced the Rubybark pipe using a medium red stain to produce its individual finish. Two years after its initial production the stain of the Redbark was lightened but proved to be unsuccessful and production was ceased. In 1987 the Redbark was re-born as the Alfred Dunhill Rubybark White Spot Briar pipe, the pipe we now all know and love, and comes as standard with a beautiful 6mm sterling silver band, giving the perfect balance of class and sophistication, its name and finish reflective of the precious ruby stone.
