Clan is a complex pipe tobacco that goes way back and today is produced by Scandinavian Tobacco Group. Your father, or uncle (if they smoked a pipe) probably smoked this on more than one occasion. It brings the nostalgic and generic room note of what a real pipe smells like. It's slightly sweet, but has a flavour that's difficult to pin down. There are no less than 14 different tobaccos in it, which provide entertainment as you almost identify a flavour which then fades and is replaced by another. If you manage to decipher a flavour or two it's probably Virginia, which seems to make up a high proportion, or maybe it's Kentucky's smoky spice, though be aware there's Latakia here too. There's Oriental's buttery, floral and earthy flavour to be found too and the list goes on. It's enjoyable; it's one of the most popular pipe tobaccos around!
